❤️‍🔥A satsang about the heart space in The Heart Space. ❤️‍🔥

Join us for a monthly satsang exploring the heart as a doorway to presence, devotion, and deeper connection. You can attend one gathering or join us for all three.

For the last several years, my spiritual practice has revolved around the heart.

It started as a simple intention (saṅkalpa), centered on love. At the time, I didn’t exactly know what I meant by it.  But over time, through practice and grace, I came to see that Love as something deeper: as a quiet presence beneath the noise, a place of refuge, wisdom, and connection to something greater. Eventually, my intention evolved into ‘devotion to the Divine.’ While I refer to the Divine as the Goddess, she goes by many names and lives within every tradition. But through my practice, it feels like this one thing is true: we connect to that something greater, the Divine, the Goddess, whatever words you like — through the heart.

Drawing on the wisdom of yoga, non-dual Tantra, and the bhakti tradition, each gathering will include meditation, chanting, mantra, mudrā, and a discussion.

Together, we'll explore the heart as a doorway to the Divine and the deeper connection that unites us all.

You’ll learn a traditional Gaṇeśa invocation, simple take-home practices, and explore the role of devotion and mantra in Tantric yoga.

Open to everyone. Whether you are new to these teachings or have been practicing for years, you are welcome.

Kirtan is one of the practices of Bhakti Yoga — the yoga of the heart.

Together, we'll sing simple mantras and sacred songs, using the resonance of sound within our bodies as a focus of awareness.

All voices are welcome! The joy of singing together affirms that each of us belongs, and we are connected to each other and the Mystery of life.

Oṁkāra: Rolling Om Circle

Oṁkāra is a simple and powerful communal chanting practice guided by Zia Oatley, where we gather in a circle and continuously chant the sacred sound Oṁ together.

As voices overlap and merge, the practice becomes a shared field of vibration, resonance, and presence. Over the course of about 45 minutes, we soften into breath, sound, and silence, connecting more deeply to ourselves, each other, and the underlying pulse of life itself.

No experience necessary. All are welcome.

This is a donation-based offering. You can donate when you sign up by credit card or via one of the links at https://crescentcityyoga.com/home/payment/. You can also bring cash.

* Please register in advance because space is limited.

* We have limited bolsters, so if you have one, please feel free to bring your own cushion. We also have chairs available.

Guru Pūrṇimā: Honoring the Living Lineage

The Indian celebration of Guru Pūrṇimā is on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, but we’ll celebrate on Saturday August 1 from 6-8pm.

Guru Pūrṇimā is a sacred full moon celebration honoring the Guru principle. Today, especially in the West, the word guru can evoke discomfort or skepticism, and often for understandable reasons. This practice is an invitation to approach the Guru principle in an expansive and authentic way without ignoring the problematic associations around the word.

The Śaiva Tantric teachings say that the Guru is the means. I understand that as meaning: the ones who have walked before us light our path. And while maybe it’s possible to move to a deeper understanding of the Self on our own without the advice, teachings, and guidance of those who have walked before us, this has not been my experience. I owe my teachers—ones I’ve met and those whose books I’ve only read—the deepest gratitude because they helped me learn to listen to the highest Guru, the quiet voice of presence that connects us all and comes alive as intuition and insight. The teacher doesn't replace our own deepest knowing; they help us recognize it.

Our Guru Pūrṇimā practice will revolve around four ideas:

Gratitude. We will acknowledge the Guru Maṇḍala: the lineages, traditions,  and all the teachers who have carried these practices. The Guru Maṇḍala includes all of the beings who have supported us, taught us, or from whom we learned, however complicated that may be.

Recognition of the Heart. We will recognize that every authentic teacher ultimately points us toward the heart of wisdom already present within us.

Discernment. We will discuss the importance of opening the heart while at the same time cultivating wisdom and discernment, honoring the genuine teacher without surrendering our capacity for clear seeing.

Recommit. Finally, we will use practice as a way to recommit to our regular practice as the way to honor the lineage and tradition of spiritual teachers of Tantra and yoga.

The practice will include discussion, chanting, pūjā, and meditation and may conclude with a fire ceremony (TBD).

All are welcome.

Sliding scale $10-50, but no one is ever turned away, so please reach out if you need support.
